Richard Rutz, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner having worked over 28 years in psychiatry and mental health. I have focused much of my practice on patients who are 13 years and older working with a variety of acute and chronic mental health issues in a diversity of settings. My goal is to provide integrative and comprehensive care to the patient, their treatment team and family members to promote overall health and well-being, allowing the patient to maximize their ability to improve the quality of life and function. Much of my practice has focused on, but not limited to; patients who have experienced trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, thought process disorders, learning disabilities and nutritional disorders. I have benefited from an array of experiences by working in hospital settings, partial hospitalization programs, and residential programs. Through these programs, I have learned how hard each individual has to work to obtain overall health through a wide range of modalities including medications, therapies and community support. My experiences have taken me to multiple states working as a floor nurse, hospital management, educational coordinator, program development and nurse practitioner. I have my nursing degrees from Purdue University and University of Kentucky. I also have a bachelor of science degree from Ball State University. I am an active member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and American Association of Nurse Practitioners
